Learning Objectives

IANTD Adv. EANx Diver:

  • This Program is designed to extend the diver’s knowledge in the use of EANx for Sport diving.
  • It further develops diving skills and provides a greater understanding of the EANx concept of diving.
  • The Program employs the use of EANx mixes
  • The purpose of this program is to qualify divers to do dive to 132 fsw (40 msw) and do decompression stops.

IANTD Adv. Recreational Trimix & Adv. Recreational Trimix Plus Diver

  • This Program is designed to extend the diver’s knowledge in the use of EANx for Sport diving. It further develops diving skills and provides a greater understanding of the EANx concept of diving. It is also intended to supplement the skills of Recreational Trimix Divers.
  • The Program employs EANx mixes from 21% oxygen to a maximum of 1.5 PO2 combined with a Helium content in which case the END will not exceed 100 fsw (30 msw) may be used.
  • The purpose of the Advanced recreational Trimix Diver program is to qualify divers to dive up to 150 fsw (45 msw) and perform decompression stops required dives.
  • The purpose of the Advanced recreational Trimix Plus Diver program is to qualify divers to dive up to 170 fsw (51 msw) and perform decompression stops required dives.

The course objective included the following:

  1. The important steps involved in dive planning
  2. Understand why oxygen management is important to the diver
  3. How to track Oxygen Exposure
  4. Why gas management planning is important
  5. Understand the importance of having the proper equipment for this level of training
  6. Why proper and consistent equipment configuration is important
  7. What consideration must be given to equipment that is used with oxygen
  8. Have a basic understanding of oxygen toxicity
  9. Understanding how to track and prevent oxygen toxicity
  10. Know the basic signs and symptoms of oxygen toxicity
  11. When inert narcosis is likely to occur
  12. What are the typical sugns and symptoms of inert gas narcosis
  13. Be able to state what the Myer-Overton hypothesis is for inert gas narcosis          
  14. Describe practical strategies in dealing with or preventing inert gas narcosis
  15. To discuss the underlying principles of decompression sickness
  16. To describe the different types of decompression sickness
  17. Describe the risk factors for decompression sickness
  18. Describe the basic signs and symptoms of decompression sickness
  19. Understand the role stress plays in our actions and reactions underwater
  20. How effective risk management is key to good technical diving
  21. How a divers capapbiltty contribute to being a safe diver
  22. Understanding the importance of good diver technique for the technical diver
  23. Identify and describe when to use 3 different kicking techniques
